Why Nataraja?

Nataraja is depicted as neither male nor female and embodying both masculine and feminine characteristics. As a non-binary person, I identify with this concept and welcome all LGBTQIA2S+ folx in my practice. I am happy to accompany you on your exploration of gender identity, sexuality, and how to express yourself authentically.

The cosmic dancer, similar to the therapeutic arts, is dynamic and it is impossible to separate the dance from the dancer. Aside from theories, techniques, and experiments, the driving force of therapy is the relationship that is built between you and I. I think what truly matters is how it feels to be together as we work on what is important to you.

Nataraja's dance symbolizes the 5 stages of life

1. creation

2. preservation

3. destruction

4. illusion

5. emancipation

The acceptance of suffering is the beginning of the healing path. Shiva’s blissful smile reminds us that life is a journey of gaining compassion for ourselves and contentment in our place in the dance. The dance is proactive and ever evolving. Pain is inevitable and when we gain the courage to turn towards it, we discover our own power.

Cycles

The dancer is set within a ring of fire which represents time. Time is cyclical,  never ending, and ultimately destroys all to make way for new cycles to be birthed. We can apply this concept to our own lives in the cycles that we experience emotionally and relationally.

Liberation

Awakening the cosmic dancer within is empowering ourselves to both create new realities and destroy ones that no longer serve us. In our work, we can burn through illusion, become aware of cycles that are holding us back, and emancipate ourselves.
