About Me
Hi, Iām Macy Khangura.
I'm a Punjabi-American, neurodivergent, queer person. As a second generation immigrant I know what it's like to be torn between two cultures and the pain of the diaspora experience. In my personal healing journey I found that IFS and brainspotting were the most effective in helping me address my personal trauma history and the ancestral trauma my family has carried.
In my previous life as a clinician in a community mental health center in East Oakland, I worked with folks who were struggling with complex trauma and co-occurring substance use disorders. Many of my clients were living in survival mode and were either unhoused or at constant risk of losing their housing and their stability.
Through these experiences of working with some of the most difficult cases, it instilled in me an unbreakable sense of hope and I fell more deeply in love with the magic of therapy. We all deserve to live lives of dignity and to connect with the parts of ourselves that can guide our own healing process. Walking this path alongside my clients is one of the greatest gifts I have received in this life.
Working with me is an active process. Therapy will be warm, playful, interactive, and we will co-create exercises that continue to develop our sense of mutual curiosity.
